It is the friends that you call at 4 a.m. that matter.

Like many people, I found out the hard way.
When I left the corporate world, I quickly realized just how narrow my world had become.
My connections were only from a particular industry, limited to a geographic region, confined to the context of my previous role ... much too restricted to encourage and support the bigger plans I had in mind.
So I started building my network ... and discovered what I had been missing for so long. Things like:
resources ... easy access to a variety of experts for advice, solutions, services
- big thinking ... support, understanding and encouragement from people who care
- belonging ... "sanity-checks" and validation from peers
- trust ... a place to be vulnerable, share confidences, hear the truth
- perspective ... tapping into the diverse knowledge and experience of others
- generosity ... opportunities to share, help, give back, and mentor
- friendship ... the richness of close, caring relationships
And in this fast-moving, inter-connected world, a strong network can mean the difference between success and mediocrity. Self-sufficiency is not an option.
One more thing about having a strong network -- it's fun! Meet some of the wonderful people in my Community of Choice.
