Maybe as a child you did well in school. Maybe your head has always been overflowing with ideas and solutions. Maybe you'd be bored without the opportunity to learn something new. Maybe you thrill at being the best you can be. Maybe "the only job worth doing is worth doing well" is your motto.
As a result you've been successful in the world of work. Employers are pleased with your results. Clients know they can count on you. Colleagues go to you for answers.
Yet you fin d yourself saying things like:
- I'm proud of my accomplishments,
but ... concerned I'm being consumed by my work.
==> There's not enough time for me, my family, my friends (uh, what friends??)
- I've steadily advanced,
but ... work is not as stimulating and creative as it once was.
==> I'm afraid I've plateaued ... or perhaps at a dead end.
- I know a lot of people,
but ... I don't know who I can turn to when times get tough.
==> My support network is full of holes.
- People tell me my work is important,
but ... I wonder who I would be without my job.
==> I'm working hard, but still not happy.
- I do a lot for others,
but ... worry I've ignored my own dreams and passions.
==> I watch out for everyone but me.
- My life is full of wonderful opportunities,
but ... I'm overwhelmed by multiple roles and competing demands.
==> I've got so many things to do, I don't know where to start.
- I'm really good at what I do,
but ... don't know if I want to do it forever.
==> I've simply forgotten how to laugh.
